Snow Leopard Trail is a short documentary about snow leopard conservation in the Annapurna Himalaya. As many parts of the world struggle to coexist with carnivores again, it asks what we can learn from Nepali conservationists and communities about sharing landscapes with apex predators.
A 2023 development grant from Northern Ireland Screen enabled a teaser (proof-of-concept) to be created. The team for this sizzle reel included Jonny Hanson, Rinzin P Lama, Tashi R Ghale, Abinash Lama, James Glancy and Marty Stalker.
In 2024, a £20,000 grant from the ESRC/AHRC Impact Acceleration Accounts at Queen’s University Belfast allowed the 1.2 terabytes of 4K camera and drone footage filmed in Nepal to be transformed into a 20 minute ‘short’ film.
Snow Leopard Trail screened at film and conservation festivals in 2025 and 2026 and will be publicly-available on YouTube from Snow Leopard Day, 23rd October, 2026.
